I remember sitting at the sink in the NICU washing my hands, and being so nervous to look up and see what beds my boys were in. I was wheeled to Reid first, who was so tiny. I couldn't get over all the wires, and what the nurse was telling me was all jumbled and too much to process. Then I was taken to Dayton, and I remember crying.
He was so bruised and swollen. All I wanted to do was make him feel better, but I couldn't even touch him.
A bit later I was able to slide my hand in and put my finger in their tiny hands. They grabbed my finger. I felt like a mommy.
